THEMIDASBRAKE SYSTEM EXPERTS

Today's brake systems are built for balanced braking. There are basically two forms of brake systems: discs and drums. Typically, disc systems are located in the front of the automobile and drum systems located in the back.

Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS) are installed on many newer cars and light trucks. The ABS system acts as an over-ride to the normal hydraulic brake system during extreme braking situations where one or more wheels tend to lock up. When the wheel locks up, resistive cohesion to the road surface is lessened and the car could skid and lack control. ABS sensors at the wheels sense the speed of the wheel and send signals to a computer control that can adjust the braking pressure at the wheel and avoid skids. The ABS computer has built in auto-diagnostic functions which self test the system every time you start the car.

All brakes have certain components in common, and they all display similar warning signs when they begin to wear out. Fortunately, the symptoms of brake system trouble are very few, and they're usually quite easy to spot. For example, a low or spongy pedal can signal air in the hydraulic system; a hard pedal can mean worn out shoes or pads. If your red brake warning light stays on, you could have an imbalance in your hydraulic system. Squealing brakes can mean a glazed rotor or that calipers need to be replaced.

We recommend a complete brake inspection every 12,000 miles or annually whichever comes first. However, if you have any of the symptons mentioned above, don't hesitate to visit MIDAS for our famous 42 point Brake System Inspection. A complete inspection includes measurement of pad and shoe wear, rotor and drum specification, checking hydraulic system for evidence of leaks, condition of lines, parking brake, tires and bearings. Your best assurance of your brake system condition is our complete, written inspection.

Brake System repair pricing is individual to each vehicle. Normal brake repair consists of changing pads or shoes. MIDAS brake pads or brake shoes are covered by our famous LIFETIME WARRANTY that covers pad or shoe parts for as long as you own your vehicle. However, your brake system has several components that must work together to produce the braking efficiency designed for your vehicle. Our complete inspection will allow you to make the right choices and you will be involved in the repair process.
